Runway Park has been chosen to hold the grand daddy of ice drag racing the 2005 ISR World Series that will be held on February 18th, 19th, and 20th. The World Series has been run for the past 29 years, but has not been held in Canada for over 20 years. The World Series will be the culmination of over a week of ice drag racing at Runway Park. On February 11th, 12th and 13th the Winter Nationals will be held. These two exciting weekends will see the unveiling of a new class of racing for ice drags, an open fuel class which will allow racers to reach expected speeds of 152 to 158 MPH on a 660-foot drag strip. The unveiling of this new class will be Friday February 11, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, the first time this class will ever be run. A portion of the proceeds from these two weekends will be donated to “The Great Tugboat Race” which is in support of challenged children in the local area on both sides of the border.
