Thanks to all who participated in 2005

The end of another successful season. As in the previous years RUNWAY PARK has grown, adding additonal events to make up an exciting 12 months.

Winter Mania 2005 played host to two major snowmachine events. The 250 lap MIRA race served as a great warm up to the I-500. It proved to be an exciting snowmachine event that not only hosted some very talented local racers but also drew talent from as far away as Alaska. This ½ mile oval ice track, made for very exciting race action in this NASCAR style form of snowmachine racing. The park also hosted the ISR World Series of Snowmachine Drag Racing. The fastest machines in the world attended this event. A world record was broken by Tiina Duncanson of Acton, Ont. for the fastest sled on ice. This event attracted competition from Nova Scotia to Alberta and from Michigan to Wisconson.

Last spring the Motocross track had some changes made that made it longer and safer. Matt Lee returned to teach his MX school on the long weekend in May and had a great enrollment. Open practice sessions were held on Wednesday evenings during June, August and September. Three races were held this year including a Pro qualifying event for the Nationals.

Two Mudbog events were held proving once again to be a crowd favourite. The edge of the bog was lined up with families in lawnchairs. The second event added ATV’s to the bog and to the delight of kids and the kids at heart we witnessed the human bogs.

The tractor pull event also grew in number this year with an 11 year old girl amazing the crowd as she manouvered her grandfathers tractor.

The 2005 season had something for everyone from young to old. A special thanks goes out to all the sponsors and volunteers who made these events possible.
