ISR World Series Championship Ice Drags    March 1, 2005

     The ISR World Championship Series was a great success. Over 90 of the best world class teams started pulling in on Wednesday night to get ready for the weekend. By Thursday the pits were filled, and testing and tuning of the worlds fastest snowmachines began, carrying through until Friday afternoon.

     Friday night was the official opening of the weekend with a Shootout Drag party at 7:00 and at 9:00 it concluded with an awesome firework extravaganza provided by Dave Dunigan.

     Saturday morning started out with a roar, with all teams now settled in and ready to race. They came from as far away as Bathhurst, New Brunswick, Red Deer, Alberta and Washington State. These racers put on one heck of a show, reaching speeds up to 137 mph. in less than 5 seconds on this 1/8th mile track.

     On Sunday Tiina Duncanson (pictured) from Acton, Ontario drove away with the award for Top Gas and a new WORLD RECORD with a time of 4.88 seconds at a speed of 137 mph.Tiina was riding a 4 cylinder Artic Cat sled owned by Mike Crooks. Runway Park is now known as the fastest Ice in the world. Three local competitors also took home World Series medals. Clark Ruggles (1st 700 stock s/p & 900 stock, 2nd 800 stock,3rd 600 stock), Joey Wierzbicki (3rd 700 imp.) and Larry Ebare (3rd 700 stock).

     $1,000 in proceeds for the program sales was donated to go the Tugboat Association to help support International Challenged Children in the local area on both sides of the border.
